Fractals: Why I love to capture nature in my art

How wonderful to think that my artworks may have a positive effect on health…
Fractals - the repeating patterns we find everywhere in nature - may be why I love to capture nature in my art.
I love to walk through nature and am inspired to capture natural structures and textures through my art. Both, for me are relaxing and healing. In the ‘Tonight’ programme on ITV [Series 21 - Episode 1, 31 Jan 2019], ITV's Science Editor Tom Clarke and Dr Chatterjee helped to explain - at last - why that might be. This is because in nature we find repeating patterns called fractals. Studies have shown that our stress levels lower significantly after looking at images containing fractals. How wonderful to think that displaying my artworks in my own home might just have a positive effect on my health too!
